Health and Safety Policy
Nature Crafters Health and Safety Policy
(Last updated: 23rd March 2021)
Health and Safety is very important to me and I have therefore documented the following procedures that I have in place to support this.
- All equipment will be checked and cleaned regularly to ensure they are safe for children to use. Any broken or hazardous equipment will be removed immediately. Children will only be offered equipment and resources that are suitable for their age/stage of development.
- I carry out a risk assessment of my venues to ensure that it is a safe environment.
- In the event of a fire/evacuation I will follow the Fire instructions found in the venues.
- I have a strict Safeguarding Children policy in place (see below).
- I hold comprehensive Public Liability insurance.
- I am DBS (Data Barring Services) checked.
Accidents & Incidents:
- I am first aid trained and hold a first aid certificate .
- I have a procedure for recording accidents -a form for myself to fill in and file & a copy for parents to sign.
- I carry my own first aid kit.
- Parents/carers have the duty and responsibility of informing the club about any medical conditions their children have.
- Parents/carers are responsible for notifying the club of any allergies their children have.
- As the first aider I know how to use an epi-pen and administer an in-haler.
- If you have any concerns regarding the health and safety of your child please discuss them with me.
Safeguarding Children Policy
My responsibility as an after school club provider is to ensure the safety and welfare of all the children in my classes/sessions.
I have received training on Safeguarding Children (Child Protection) and am aware of the signs and symptoms of child abuse (physical, emotional and sexual) and those of neglect.
If I have reason to believe that any child is being abused in any way I will report the matter to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) at the relevant Social Services, Child protection Team. Under these circumstances I will not be able to keep information relating to your child confidential, but will need to share it with Ofsted, Social Services and the Police if requested.
Should you have any concerns regarding this policy please discuss them with me.
